What makes it look like a real Telegram chat
Bubbles with tails
Your messages are light green, theirs are white, on Telegram's green patterned wallpaper. The last bubble of each run gets the tail.
Time and checks inside the bubble
The time sits in the bottom corner of every bubble. Your messages show one check, or two once they are Read.
Replies and reactions
A reply quotes the message at the top of the bubble with a coloured bar, and reactions sit inside the bubble as small chips.
Group chats
Each sender gets a coloured name and an avatar beside their last message, and the header shows the group name and "3 members".
Photos and dark mode
Add photos with or without a caption, and switch the whole screen to Telegram's dark blue theme with one click.
Five languages
"last seen recently", "Today" and the rest of the app text in English, Portuguese, German, Spanish or French.
What people use it for
- Chat stories, short videos and memes
- App mock-ups, ads and pitch decks
- Scenes in books, comics and scripts
- Lessons on scams, fake screenshots and online safety
How to make the Telegram chat look real
- Send messages in short runs. Telegram draws the tail only on the last bubble of a run, so several short messages in a row look natural.
- Two checks mean the other person has read it. Mark everything before their reply "Read" and leave your newest message "Sent" (one check) if they haven't answered yet.
- Under the name, a 1:1 chat says "last seen recently". If the person is answering right now, type "online" in "Status under the name".
- Telegram prints "Today" above the first message. A pause of an hour or more gets its own time header, so keep the times realistic.
- In a group, fill in "Group name". The header counts every member, you included, so add only the people who would really be there.
- Use "Reply to" when someone answers an older message, so the quote sits at the top of the bubble. Add reactions only here and there, and set "Status bar time" a few minutes after the last message.
Common mistakes
One check on a message they answered
If the other person replied after your message, they have read it. Set its Status to "Read" so it shows two checks.
"online" with an old chat
"online" means they are in the app right now. For a chat from earlier, keep "last seen recently" or type "last seen at 21:14".
Times that go backwards
A reply at 9:38 under a message sent at 9:42 is impossible. Read the times top to bottom before you download.
Paragraphs in one bubble
People split Telegram chats into several short messages. One long block of text looks like an email.
A clock earlier than the chat
A status bar at 9:41 above messages from 23:05 gives the image away. Set "Status bar time" after the last message.
Fake Telegram chat questions
- Is the Telegram chat generator free?
- Yes. Make as many chats as you like and download the PNG for free, with no watermark and no account.
- Can I send a photo in the Telegram chat?
- Yes. Under the messages, press "+ Photo" and pick an image. It is added as a photo from you; change the sender on its row if the other person should send it, and type a caption if you like. The image stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
- Can I make a Telegram channel post or add stickers?
- Not yet. It makes 1:1 and group chats. You can use emoji in messages and as reactions.
- Can I write the messages in Russian or another language?
- Yes, type any language you like. The app text around the messages ("last seen recently", "Today") comes in English, Portuguese, German, Spanish or French.
- Are my messages uploaded anywhere?
- No. The chat is saved only in your browser and the PNG is made there too.
- Can I make fake messages from a real person?
- No. It is for mock-ups, stories and lessons. Passing made-up messages off as real, or impersonating someone, is against our acceptable use policy.
