How to make an Instagram profile mockup that looks real
Published 1 November 2026
A profile page is the first thing people see when they check out a brand on Instagram. Here is how to build a convincing profile mockup for a client pitch, a brand plan, an app demo or a lesson, and the small details that give a staged one away.
What you need
A username, a short bio, a profile photo and a few square photos for the grid. Fakeconvo's Instagram profile generator draws the whole profile page in the Instagram style, is free, needs no account and puts no watermark on the PNG. Your photos and text stay in your browser.
Five steps to a realistic Instagram profile
- Pick whose profile it is. The first message's "Sender" owns the profile. Under People, type the name and a "Handle" for the username at the top (without one, it is made from the name), tick "Verified badge" for the blue check, and click the round button before the name to add the profile photo.
- Write the bio. The first message's text is the bio, shown under the name; start new lines as you would in the app. Under Settings, "Category under the name" adds the grey line business profiles have, such as "Bakery", and "Link in bio" adds a link with a chain icon after the bio.
- Fill the grid. Under the first message, click "Photo" and pick up to 10 images: each one is cropped square and they fill the grid three to a row. Leave "Posts" empty and the count follows the number of photos, or type the real total, such as "248".
- Add counts and highlights. Under Settings, type "Followers" and "Following" exactly as Instagram shows them, like "12.4K" and "183". "Highlights" takes names separated by commas ("Menu, Reviews, Events"); each circle uses a grid photo as its cover unless you pick one under "Highlight covers".
- Choose your view and export. If the owner is you, the profile shows "Edit profile" and "Share profile"; pick another person and you get the blue "Follow" button and "Message", as a visitor sees it. Switch "Dark mode" if you like, set the "Status bar time" and battery, then download the PNG at 2x or 3x.
Details that make a profile look staged
The numbers have to fit together. A neighbourhood bakery with 248 posts, 12.4K followers and 183 following looks normal; round numbers like 10,000 and 100, or a million followers on three posts, look typed in. Tick "Verified badge" only for brands and public figures.
Real grids look like one account. Use photos with a similar light and style, put the newest first, and keep the bio short: a line about what you do, maybe an emoji, a place or opening hours. Four paragraphs of text in a bio is a giveaway.
Use it the right way
Profile mockups are for client pitches, brand and content plans, app demos, videos and lessons, such as showing a class how a copycat account fakes a brand to run a scam. Do not copy a real person's or brand's profile to pass yourself off as them, do not make a profile that looks like proof of something that never happened, and do not use one to scam, bully or embarrass anyone. Our acceptable use page has the details.
