How to make a Reddit post mockup with comments
Published 1 November 2026
A Reddit thread, with a title, a score and people answering underneath, is a quick way to show how a community might talk about a product, a story or an idea. Here is how to build one that looks right in a few minutes, and the details that give a mockup away.
What you need
A subreddit name, a title, the post text, and three or four comments from different people. Fakeconvo's Reddit post generator draws the thread as it looks in the phone app, is free, needs no account and puts no watermark on the PNG. Your photos stay in your browser and are never uploaded.
Five steps to a realistic Reddit post
- Set the community and the people. Under People, type the community in "Subreddit", with or without "r/". Give the poster and each commenter a name and a "Handle"; leave the handle empty and one is made from the name. Tap the round button before a name to use a profile photo instead of the letter avatar.
- Write the title and the post. Whoever sends the first message is the poster. Its first line becomes the bold title and the lines after it the post text, as the hint under the field says. Press Enter after the title, or the whole post ends up in bold.
- Add a photo if the post has one. Press "Photo" on the post and pick an image; it shows under the text. A comment can carry a photo too, with "+ Photo".
- Set the numbers. "Upvotes" is shown exactly as you type it, so write "1.2K" or "347", never "1000". "Comments" on the post is the count next to the speech bubble; leave it empty and it counts the comments you wrote. Give each comment its own "Upvotes" too.
- Write the comments, then export. Every message after the post is a comment with an avatar, the username, its age, Reply and its score. When the poster answers, their comment gets the "OP" tag. Pick light or dark mode under Settings and download the PNG at 2x or 3x, as a phone screen or the whole thread.
Details that give a mockup away
Titles on Reddit are full sentences that tell the story, like "Two years of waiting and my monstera finally gave me a split leaf", not slogans. Handles are lowercase words joined by underscores or numbers, like "fern_and_fig". A comment that reads like ad copy, or a commenter who agrees with everything, gives the thread away.
Scores fall off down the page: the post has far more upvotes than any comment, and the top comment more than the ones under it. Times have to agree too, so a post from "5h" takes comments from "4h" or "2h", never "6h". Comments show one under the other; nested reply chains aren't supported yet, so keep the thread to top-level answers and the odd OP reply.
Use it the right way
Reddit post mockups are for community marketing plans, pitch decks, case studies, video scripts, stories, prototypes and lessons on online communities. Do not make posts in the name of a real user or a real subreddit's moderators, do not fake reviews or recommendations, and do not pass a mockup off as a real thread. Our acceptable use page has the details.
