How to make a Facebook post mockup for an ad, a client or a deck
Published 31 October 2026
A post shown in the feed, with its reactions and a few comments, sells an idea better than a draft in a document. Here is how to build a convincing Facebook post mockup in a few minutes, and the details that give one away.
What you need
The post text, a photo if there is one, and the name of the page or person posting. Fakeconvo's Facebook post generator draws the post as it looks on a phone, is free, needs no account and puts no watermark on the PNG. Your photos stay in your browser and are never uploaded.
Five steps to a realistic Facebook post
- Set up the author. Under People, type the page's name, like "Juniper Bakery", and tap the round button before the name to add the logo as the profile picture. Tick "Verified badge" only if the page really has one.
- Write the post. The first message is the post: a hook in the first line, two or three short paragraphs at most, and a link or an emoji if the brand uses them. Set its "Time" as an age, like "3h"; it shows as "3h 路 馃寪" under the name, like a public post.
- Add the photo. Press "Photo" on the post and pick an image. It is cropped to a square from the centre and shown full width under the text, so keep the subject in the middle.
- Type the counts in proportion. "Likes" is shown exactly as you type it, next to the like and love badges, so write "248" or "1.2K". "Comments" and "Shares" show as "37 comments 路 19 shares". The row only appears when one of them is set.
- Write the comments, then export. Every message after the post is a comment bubble with the person's name, its own "Likes" and a time, and "Like 路 Reply" under it. Add two to four, from different people. Pick light or dark mode under Settings and download the PNG at 2x or 3x.
Details that give a mockup away
Round numbers look typed in: 1,000 reactions and 50 shares never happen, 248 and 19 do. On most posts comments are a small share of reactions, and shares are fewer still, unless the post is a giveaway or news. Four comment bubbles under "2 comments" don't add up.
Times have to agree: a comment can't be older than the post, so a "3h" post takes comments of "2h" or "45m". Comments that all sound like the brand wrote them, and a blue badge on a small local page, give the whole thing away.
Use it the right way
Facebook post mockups are for ad previews, client sign-offs, pitch decks, case studies, video scripts and lessons on social media. Do not make posts in the name of a real person or page that has not asked for them, and do not pass a mockup off as a real post. Our acceptable use page has the details.
